India assembles currency task force

An Indian task force of regulatory, government and central bank officials has been assembled to negotiate currency swap agreements with the nation's trading partners in a bid to support the foundering rupee. According to a government statement, the group's focus will be narrow. "The purpose of the task force is limited to examine swap of national currency for trade which is distinct from currency swap agreements of central banks," the statement said.
