N.Y. will join CMS pilot program for dual-eligibles

New York residents eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid and in need of long-term care will be covered under a managed care model beginning next July. The program is part of the CMS Financial Alignment Initiative, a pilot project allowing states to cover dual-eligibles under either a capitated model or a managed fee-for-service model. The state is considering some 25 health plans for the program.
