Study: Demand rising for greener solvents

According to a new IHS Chemical report, the demand for greener solvents is up because of concerns about chemical toxicity. "Many large industrial users face switching from a hazardous compound to a more environmentally benign solvent that has a higher cost or that compromises product quality. The perfect solvent is not available, so manufacturers must make a trade-off [among] efficiency, cost, and environmental impact," said Eric Linak, an IHS Chemical analyst and author of the report.
