Study ties gene variant to higher heart risk in diabetes

Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston found type 2 diabetes patients who carry a gene variant located near the GLUL gene had a 36% increased risk of heart disease than those without the variant. The findings were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
