Supply overshoots demand in student housing space

The cost of student housing is proving to be a bargain this year as providers find the market more competitive and cut rents as a result. Axiometrics reports that there will be a record 51,000 off-campus beds delivered in college towns this year. "There's more supply than demand, that's the easy way to say it," says Jay Denton, Axiometrics director of research. "Somebody's getting hurt."
