Texas district seeks to meet needs of diverse learners

A Texas school district is implementing two new programs this year to meet the needs of students who are gifted and students who are dual-language speakers. The gifted and talented program will be organized to meet students' varied needs. "You have to meet three needs of gifted kids," said Lynda Maxwell, school director. "They have to have time to work alone. They have to have time to work with others who have the same abilities and time with same-age peers," she said.
