No more P3 plans for Nev.'s $1.5B Project NEON

Las Vegas' $1.5 billion Project NEON, a 3.7-mile design-build highway project will no longer be built via a public-private partnership because of higher than expected costs, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. Bond financing instead will be used. A new Request For Proposals will be issued and the three teams vying for the project's contract are expected to submit new bids. Work will last about two decades and includes building high-occupancy vehicle lanes and a two-lane flyover bridge.
