U.S. bank lending reaches record $8.11T in Q2

U.S. bank loan and lease balances reached $8.11 trillion in the second quarter for a 2.3% increase over the first quarter, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the first time lending by U.S. banks has surpassed $8 trillion since 2007. The data suggest that banks have moved away from their cautious, post-recession strategies to a position in which they are taking on more risk.
