Well-designed backpacks for students can prevent back, neck pain

The proper fitting of school backpacks is important for comfortable wear and to prevent injury, and Dr. Elise G. Hewitt, ACA Pediatrics Council president, recommends shopping at a sporting goods store where employees know how to fit backpacks. At least 14,000 children are treated for backpack-related injuries every year, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
