New device locates and maps veins

Intending first to create something to help those with visual impairments, Herbert Zeman the chief scientific officer at Luminetx Corp., has created VeinViewer, a device that locates veins and then projects an image onto the skin's surface. Accurate to 0.06 millimeters, the device uses blood-absorbing near-infrared light to project a green map of blood vessels that couldn't normally be seen. The device may also have applications for treatment of varicose veins.
