401(k) plans are down, not out

Many employers have tinkered with 401(k) plans in the economic downturn, but most haven't killed the benefit entirely. While many companies have cut back on matching employee contributions to the funds, some are offering investment guidance, new investment options or automatically enrolling workers in an effort to get employees to participate.
