Are online-education options growing too fast?

Many Chicago Public Schools now offer options for online learning, including credit-recovery programs, enrichment courses for students in elementary school and virtual school. The district is also planning to use online learning to extend the school day in 15 test schools this year. These programs are seen by many as an inexpensive and flexible education options, but critics say there is little research to show whether they are effective.
