Breast-feeding may reduce diabetes risk in women, study says

A study of more than 2,200 women showed that those who did not breast-feed a newborn had an almost double the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes compared with those who had breast-fed or women who had never given birth. Researchers found that 27% of the mothers who did not breast-feed developed Type 2 diabetes, compared with 19% who breast-fed for one to six months and 16% who breast-fed for six months or longer.
