CFOs' pay fell further behind CEOs' in 2010

The average chief financial officer at a midsized firm took home about 40% of the compensation of an average CEO in 2010, according to a survey by accounting firm BDO. CFOs typically earn up to 60% of the amount of their company's chief executive. The difference is the result of CEOs cashing in on performance-based compensation packages over the past year, the firm says.
