DIRECTV opts for a buyback while DISH diversifies

DIRECTV and DISH Network have settled on decidedly different reactions to the threat posed by the success of online video and TV subscription services. The former is in the middle of a share buyback, while the latter has chosen to expand by purchasing Blockbuster and wireless spectrum, with plans to construct a U.S. wireless network for broadband.
