National Board Certified Teacher Patrick Ledesma writes in this blog post about the importance of a well-rounded education that includes the arts and opportunities for students to explore their interests. Such learning, he writes, helps students to become innovative and creative leaders. He points to outgoing Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who has said that a calligraphy instruction course he took while in college laid the foundation for typography in early models of the Macintosh computer.
