The Senate banking committee intends to discuss legislation that would reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program as lawmakers resume work next week, according to PCI's Robert Gordon. The plan comes on the heels of Hurricane Irene, which has prompted industry leaders to renew calls for congressional action on the issue. "Hurricane Irene is yet another timely reminder that lawmakers need to renew the NFIP when Congress reconvenes in September," Gordon said.
