A steering committee at Oregon's Department of Transportation is at work to "produce and update a state rail plan to establish policy, priorities and implementation strategies for freight and passenger rail transportation," writes Susan Morgan, a county commissioner in the state's Douglas County. Railroads involved in the planning include Union Pacific, BNSF and Coos Bay Rail Link.
