Deathbed marriages are hard to kill off in some states

While many states are regulating so-called deathbed marriages so that a decedent's heirs can challenge questionable unions, they are alive and well in other states. For example, even after legislation was enacted to address the issue, Florida law still has a loophole allowing unscrupulous individuals to exploit elders through estate planning. This article surveys legislation dealing with this issue in various jurisdictions.
