Editorial: Congress must calculate costs of ethanol-blended gasoline

Congress should calculate how much the Renewable Fuel Standard costs consumers in fuel system and equipment replacements before voting to keep it, this editorial says. Consumers also pay more for gas stabilizers and additives, which the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute recommends to mitigate the effect on engines. "[R]unning vehicles on food seems like not just a boondoggle but an environmental dead end," the editors argue.
