NIST advances Obama cybersecurity effort with draft guidelines

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has released a preliminary set of guidelines designed to help businesses take voluntary steps to bolster their computer networks against attack, bringing President Barack Obama's cybersecurity initiative one step closer to completion. NIST is seeking feedback from stakeholders and has until October to publish a first draft, with a final set of guidelines due in February.
