N.J. borough council aims to regulate outdoor generators

The Rockleigh, N.J., Borough Council has proposed that stationary generators be no more than 3 feet from a house and only in rear or side yards. Under the ordinance, generators would need to be fueled by propane, natural gas or diesel fuel and could not produce more than 85 decibels of noise at the source and 50 decibels at the line of a property.
