N.J. borough proposes restrictions for outdoor generators

Stationary generators should be no more than 3 feet from a house, and only in rear or side yards, according to a new ordinance proposed in Rockleigh, N.J. Under the ordinance, generators would need to be fueled by propane, natural gas or diesel fuel and could not produce more than 85 decibels of noise at the source and 50 decibels at the line of a property.
