As responsive websites grow in size, it's crucial to make sure they still load quickly to keep consumers from navigating away, writes Kerry Butters. Optimized sites keep the number of HTTP requests low and use conditional loading to stop features that are bogging down load times. Adaptive images can also improve speed, particularly for websites with lots of legacy content, Butters writes.
