Wi-Fi spreads as cities, providers jockey for position

Towns nationwide are partnering with companies such as Sprint Nextel, Hewlett-Packard and EchoStar Communications to create Wi-Fi networks to blanket their municipalities. With 300 cities launching or about to launch Wi-Fi networks, the market soon could yield about $200 million in revenue annually.
