Can the paper coupon survive in the age of Google?

Google's new online discount offers through its Maps service pose the latest threat to the traditional paper coupon, which has continued to thrive in the digital age. Although 99% of the estimated 300 billion coupons distributed each year are thrown out, most American households still use them, and the inserts in Sunday newspapers rank second to the front page as the most-read section.
