Bankers and issuers are uneasy about tougher securitization rules

Regulatory agencies are taking varying approaches to beefing up rules for securitization, raising concern among bankers and issuers. The worst-case scenario is that the government's effort to rein in issuers of asset-backed securities would produce a trio of regulations. The rules would be aimed at strengthening disclosure and forcing issuers to retain some of the credit risk, but the rules have significant differences.
