Consumers are shopping less often, visiting fewer stores and spending less per shopping trip, according to research from SymphonyIRI Group. Grocery stores, supercenters and shopping clubs have seen decreases in dollars spent per visit, while convenience stores, dollar stores and drugstores have seen increases.
