HHS provides $2 billion to prepare for a public health emergency

The HHS is allocating almost $2 billion to support the production of treatments and medical equipment needed for a public health emergency, a pandemic or bioterrorism. About $170 million of the funding will be used to strengthen the FDA's regulation of medical countermeasures.
