Kansas must improve transport system as biofuels grow, officials say

Kansas officials on Monday cited a report from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials that says the expanding farm and energy sectors, along with a projected increase in trading with Canada, will require improvements in the state's transportation system. Abengoa Energy Executive Vice President Chris Standlee concurred, saying that Kansas would need the improvements as it moves toward cellulosic-ethanol production and the federal government triples the volume requirements for the renewable-fuels standard.
