More poultry producers are expected to have their flocks vaccinated to prevent salmonella poisoning in response to the recent nationwide egg recall. "I'm not sure everybody will be using the vaccines, but I believe a vast majority of egg farms will be doing so in the near future. With increased vaccinations and preventive measures that the industry has undertaken in the past 20 years, I certainly hope we don't see this again," an Iowa poultry veterinarian said.
