NRC to decide soon on challenge against S.C. nuclear project

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will soon announce its decision on a legal challenge filed by environmental groups against a proposed nuclear-expansion project in South Carolina. The NRC's Atomic Safety and Licensing Board backed the decision by South Carolina Electric and Gas and the South Carolina Public Service Authority that the construction of two reactors at SCE&G's Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station is necessary to address long-term energy needs.
