Obama criticizes Republicans for hindering a small-business bill

President Barack Obama lashed out at Republicans for preventing the Senate from voting on legislation to help small businesses create jobs and speed up the economic recovery. He called on Congress to "rise above the politics of the moment" and enact the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act when Congress reconvenes next month. Obama said he will support extension of tax cuts adopted under President George W. Bush but exclude households with an annual income of more than $250,000.
