School relaxes policy on cell phones, citing educational benefits

Educators at a Pennsylvania high school say they will relax a ban on student cell phones so that the devices can be used to help students learn. The school will continue to ban the devices in the classroom unless a teacher asks that they be used as part of instruction, but students will be allowed their use between classes and at other times. The school is testing the policy, but a permanent change will require approval from the district school board.
