Analysis: Irene storm repair unlikely to boost construction industry

Experts have thrown cold water on an idea put forth in the wake of Hurricane Irene -- that money spent on cleanup efforts will provide an immediate boost to the economy, particularly the construction industry. Any short-term stimulus created by new repair contracts will be offset by long-term damage to businesses affected by Irene, and by immediate decreases in consumer spending, say economists.
