Intel witnesses: Rambus to blame for memory chip failures

Responsibility for the failure of the Rambus DRAM technology to become an industry standard lies with Rambus itself, not other memory chipmakers, according to Intel employees who have testified at a trial in San Francisco. Rambus claims Hynix Semiconductor and Micron Technology competitively marginalized the RDRAM technology, causing the company to lose nearly $4 billion in royalties -- a claim that is disputed by Hynix, Intel and Micron.
