Speed of eating might play a role in obesity, study shows

A study of 1,500 women in New Zealand found that a one-step increase in eating speed on a five-step scale was tied to a 2.8% higher body mass index, or about 4 more pounds on average. Researchers are following up to determine whether eating faster can predict weight gain. The study was published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
