GOP platform backs funding for non-embryonic stem cell research

The 2012 Republican Party platform supports encouraging immigrants with advanced degrees from U.S. universities to stay in the country, depoliticizing publicly funded research, making the research and development tax credit permanent, and expanding federal funding for non-embryonic stem cell research, especially in the neurosciences. The platform also supports bans on human cloning and on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.
