FSB takes aim at securities lending

The Financial Stability Board has recommended that brokers be prohibited from using client assets as collateral for their own trades. The FSB, which was established by the Group of 20 nations, says "more safeguards" are necessary for client assets. The FSB also has proposed ways to measure and limit risk in the funding of transactions through repurchase agreements.
