Implantable heart device from PFM Medical gains FDA OK

The FDA has granted PFM Medical approval to sell its Nit-Occlud PDA system, an implantable device used to treat patients with a congenital heart defect called patent ductus arteriosus. The device, which is implanted percutaneously using a catheter, is approved for use in the nonsurgical closure of PDA that's less than 4 millimeters in angiographic diameter.
