Lincoln Park Zoo welcomes newborn rhinoceros

Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago announced the birth of a male Eastern black rhinoceros to 8-year-old mother Kapuki and 27-year-old father Maku. The Eastern black rhinoceros is endangered, with about 5,000 in the wild and 68 in North American zoos. They were hunted to near extinction in the 1990s for their horns, mistakenly thought to contain healing properties.
