NASA picks six new space mission ideas for funding

NASA has chosen six new technology projects to fund under its Innovative Advanced Concepts program, among them technology efforts to create crowds of miniature space-exploring robots or new ways to return samples from extreme environments. "Advancing these proposals from universities, private companies and NASA researchers to Phase 2 studies allows new, futuristic ideas to move closer to becoming real tools for exploration," says Michael Gazarik, NASA's associate administrator for space technology in Washington, D.C.
