New accreditation standards tie students' performance to teaching colleges

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation adopted standards Thursday for teacher-training schools, requiring them to track graduates' performance in K-12 classrooms and set higher admissions standards for teacher trainees. The new standards must be met for the training schools to receive national accreditation, which is not required by all states.
