Rooftop solar system, cool roof to power N.Y. beverage-distribution site

A 408-kilowatt rooftop solar system at Big Geyser's Queens, N.Y., beverage-distribution plant is expected to power the facility, including electric vehicles and forklifts. The firm also installed a cool roof to further reduce energy use. "We expect our cool roof to enhance solar output while reducing air-conditioning kilowatt-hour usage by keeping the roof very close to the ambient temperature during the cooling season," said Howard Ehrenshaft of Energy Conservation Group of America, which assembled the solar package.
