Soccer franchise wants to build stadium south of Yankee Stadium

New York City Football Club, a Major League Soccer franchise, is negotiating with the owners of a 9-acre parcel between the Major Deegan Expressway and East 153rd Street in the hope of building a stadium there. If the project just south of Yankee Stadium goes forward, the stadium will have between 25,000 and 30,000 seats.
