U.K. consumers see a purchasing future without cash

More than three-quarters of U.K. shoppers predict that certain coins and checkbooks will be discontinued in 10 years as mobile technology and other payment methods replace cash, according to research by WorldPay Zinc. "As new technologies continue to emerge, predictions about future methods of payment -- from fingerprints to iris scans -- are reflective of the fact that 1 in 3 people would simply feel much safer if they didn't have to carry cash around with them anymore," Managing Director Geraldine Wilson said.
