NASA expected to award spacecraft contract Thursday

NASA is expected to select either Lockheed Martin or a Boeing-Northrop Grumman team to build the next-generation spacecraft dubbed Orion. The $230 billion project is intended to take humans back to the moon and then to Mars. Some observers say the project may have limited public support, noting that efforts to return the shuttle to flight after the Columbia disaster have damaged NASA's credibility.
