Small-school push falters in Oregon district

One Oregon district lost a Gates-backed nonprofit group grant worth hundreds of thousands of dollars when community support ebbed for the division of Lebanon High School into four academies. Students complained they were separated from their friends and couldn't get the courses they wanted, while others in the blue-collar town objected to the emphasis on a college-prep curriculum.
