Council will require energy data from certified buildings

Questions surrounding the amount of energy consumed by LEED-certified buildings prompted the United States Green Building Council to start collecting information about energy use. Next year, it will require all new certified buildings to provide energy and water bills for the five years following construction. Observers note that some certified buildings are not energy efficient. A Federal Building in Ohio, for example, has a white roof to reflect heat, but its cooling system uses a large amount of energy.
