Refugees from Myanmar a political problem for China

In the wake of fighting with the government of Myanmar, more than 10,000 ethnic Kokang refugees have crossed the border into southern China. The influx of refugees -- including some of the armed militiamen involved in the conflict -- poses a logistical problem for China, which often has downplayed the significance of political disputes and human-rights crises in Myanmar as internal issues that do not affect China.
